American Civil War Stories on Shirts: May 1862, Due to inaction of Union General McClellan, President Abraham Lincoln (alias: Admiral-in-Chief) personally surveyed the beachhead and ordered the successful Naval invasion of this critical Confederate Port. A result of the invasion resulted in the scuttling of the famous Confederate Iron Clad, the CSS Virginia (a.k.a. Merrimac). In these designs we source from the Library of Congress, and other archives, the actual battle maps, photos and etchings from this era.
